1893 Barber Dime MS66 GOLD CAC
Of all the Barber dimes ever submitted to CAC, only 39 OF ALL DATES AND MINTS, have received the GOLD CAC designation and 1 of only 2 GOLD CAC for the 1893 from the Philedelphia mint. This is one of the nicest, most "museum piece" dimes I have ever seen! Surfaces are pristine on both obverse and reverse with golden hues of dark purple and subtle peeks of green and blue nicely limited to the outer edges. Ms. Liberty never looked more complete as her cheek is smooth and her headband and LIBERTY are fully struck, Nary a mark anywhere and this coin must have been dropped into the hands of a mint worker, wrapped carefully in a cotton ball and then hand delivered to a collector of the day! The reverse is just as stunning with 110% full strike along the ribbon and the wreath-whereas the bow (always a softer strike here) DOES NOT show any weakness and is more colorful and pristine. This coin is BY FAR, the nicest Barber dime I have ever seen-or held, Remember, a CAC Gold sticker indicates that the coin EXCEEDS the given grade (here an MS66) by AT LEAST one full numerical grade point, so this puts this little firecracker of a gem into the discussion of the "finest known" category. There are only 4 MS66 GOLD CAC Barber dimes in all grades/dates. PCGS has graded 53 MS 66 (reg & +) and 4 MS67's. I have seen two of 67's and they are nice, but not this coin's nice! 1893 is a common early Barber date, but even so, at this level of museum quality, so SCARCE! Call to discuss this one! BOOM!
